Tribe creates Enrollment
Audit hotline

ment Audit hotline with which to collect frequently asked questions
from the Tribal membership.

the April Tilixam Wawa. The answers to those questions will be
published in an upcoming Tilixam Wawa, as well as be distributed
to the membership in an information packet.
Please ask general questions only; please do not leave personal
inquiries regarding yourself or family.
The toll-free phone number is 877-645-2641. B

Tribal Council OKs sale of
fireworks by Veterans SEB
By Dean Rhodes
Smoke Signals editor
Tribal Council approved a one
time exemption to Tribal fireworks
regulations at its June 5 meeting to
allow the Veterans Special Event
Board to sell fireworks as a fund
raising activity.
At the June 4 Legislative Action
Committee meeting, Tribal Attorney
Rob Greene said that Tribal Council
approved in 1999 a ban on the sale
of fireworks on Tribal lands.
"This would be a limited ex
ception to that prior resolution,"
Greene said.
In response to a question from
Tribal Council member Kathleen
Tom, Greene said that the fire
works will be ones that are legal
in Oregon.
Greene said the Veterans SEB
will see how successful the fire
works fundraising effort is and
perhaps come back and ask for a
permanent exemption regarding
the sale of fireworks on Tribal
lands.
The Veterans SEB will be allowed
to sell fireworks on Tribal land from
June 20 through July 6.
In other action, Tribal Council:
Approved four banking services
agreement resolutions with Wells
Fargo Bank;
Approved the Catface One Log
ging Unit timber sale to Round
Valley LLC;
Re-appointed Ralph Baker and
Steve Nuttall to the Grand Ronde

garding the Portland Harbor

ing the agreement;
Approved a two-year grant appli
cation to the Administration for
Native Americans for the Grand
Ronde Museum & Cultural Cen

ment, as well as funding for its
oral history and carving projects
and Tribal history curriculum
development;
Approved a contract with Mat
techeck & Associates, the Tribe's
consultant regarding its two self
funded health plans - the em
