ROGUE RIVER CHASTA Tribe mounts new historical exhibit By Dean Rhodes Smoke Signals editor SALEM For Tribal Elder Kathryn Harrison, the im portance of the Tribe's new historical exhibit at the Willamette Heritage Center at The Mill harks back to what she was told by Tribal Elders in the early 1980s when she was working to help get the Tribe restored to federal recognition. "We were told a long time ago that you're going to have to tell your history over and over again," Harrison, now 89, said while taking a break from viewing the exhibit on Thursday, April 11, during a special Tribal Invitation Opening. "It needs to be told or otherwise it is going to be forgotten. Tribe aids 'River Monsters' crew Cable show filmed episode on lamprey By Dean Rhodes Smoke Signals editor Lamprey and the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde are returning to cable TV. Three and a half years after being featured on The Food Network's "Extreme Cuisine," the Tribe plays an important role in "Vampires of the Deep," an episode of Ani mal Planet's "River Monsters" starring Jeremy Wade. It is scheduled to air at 9 p.m. Sunday, May 12. Jordon Schultz Tribal member recalls horror of Boston bombs By Dean Rhodes Smoke Signals editor Tribal member Jordon Schultz still gets chills when he recalls the events of Monday, April 15, in Boston. He and his girlfriend, Ken dal Kubitz, had just left a joy ous Fenway Park where they and 37,447 other Red Sox fans celebrated when first base man Mike Napoli hit a double off Tampa Bay reliever Joel Peralta, driving in second baseman Dustin Pedroia from first base for a walk-off, ninth-inning 3-2 victory. It was approximately 2:05 p.m. when the game ended and Schultz and Kubitz met two other friends and headed to Boylston Street to watch Kubitz's best friend finish the Boston Marathon. At about 2:40 p.m., standing in front of the Lord & Taylor department store near the finish line, Schultz, his girlfriend and the two other friends decided to meet other friends and left the finish line area.
