The conference ran from Sunday, March 18, through Tuesday, March 20, and the Public Affairs Department staffed a booth throughout the conference with information about the Tribe and Spirit Mountain Casino, which Tribal member Angle Blackwell and Jeri St. Onge, casino Event & Group Sales representatives, helped staff. Natural Resources seeking 10-year plan input The Tribe's Natural Resources Division is interested in hearing from the Tribal membership about their thoughts and concerns regarding Tribal land management. As mentioned in the Feb. 15 Smoke Signals, the division is embarking on the next 10-year management plan for the Reservation. If you would like your comments to be incorporated into this plan, they need to be received by Sunday, April 1. St., Willamina, which helps fund the after-school and weekend youth community center located in the old high school gym, is seeking volunteers who can help run the store, in addition to donated items and customers. The store accepts clothes, books, knickknacks, etc., as donations. It is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and closed on Sunday and Monday. Donations also can be left at the Wildwood Hotel and Restaurant in Willamina. For more information on volunteering, call 503-876-7897. The youth center and thrift store that funds it are a nonprofit and 100 percent self-sustaining and volunteer-run. H Gala to benefit Native Arts and Cultures Foundation "Keeping the Creative Spirit Alive," a fundraiser hosted by the Native Arts & Cultures Foundation, will be held at the Left Bank Annex, 101 N. Weidler St., Portland, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17. The event is an opportunity to mingle with like-minded patrons and champions of Native arts and cultures. Guests will be treated to a Native-inspired dinner of Hawaiian, Alaskan and Native American cuisine. The entertainment will include guitarist Garbiel Ayala (Yaqui) and singer Raiatea Helm (Hawaiian) and a visual arts auction featuring work by prominent Native artists.
