Committee Summit set for Jan. 23 The 2012 Committee Summit will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Monday, Jan. 23, in the Elders' Activity Center. Committee members who plan to attend were asked to RSVP to Tribal Council Executive Coordinator Brent Merrill at brent.merrillgrandronde. org or 503-879-2304 by Thursday, Jan. 12. The breakfast will include bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, muffins, fruit, coffee and juice. B i Open house celebrates Youth Education addition An open house from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, will celebrate the completion of the new addition to the Youth Education building. The more than 2,500-square-foot addition includes a media center, sound room, culinary arts kitchen, cultural arts area and more. Staff will be presenting information about programs and services offered by Youth Education and light refreshments will be served. For more information, call 503-879-2101. B Cultural Trust Board seeks applicants The Tribal Cultural Trust Board is beginning its 2012 grant-making round. Grants ranging from $250 to a maximum of $1,000 are available for Tribal members to U9e for cultural projects or activi ties that support the understanding, practice and preservation of traditional Tribal heritage and culture. The grant-making round opens Sunday, Jan. 15, and lasts through Wednesday, Feb. 29. Interested Tribal members can pick up a 10-page application packet at the front desk of the Tribal Governance Center or call Cultural Trust Board Chair Perri McDaniel at 503-879-1313 or 503-435-8118 to have an application packet mailed. Completed applications must be received by Feb. 29. The project is supported in part by a grant from the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and funded by the Oregon Cultural Trust, which invests in Oregon's arts, humanities and heritage, fl Weekly basket weaving class held Tribal Elder Connie Graves teaches a basket weaving class at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Elders' Activity Center.
