Tribal Council Candidate Forum Wednesday, July 27 6 p.m. Tribal gymnasium 2 JULY 1,2011 Dear Smoke Signals: The family of Marce Norwest would like to thank everyone who helped in the passing of our husband, grandfather, father and friend. For those who spent time with him at the hospital talking of past ad ventures. Telling him how much he was loved. Thank you. For those who brought food, coffee and pop to our home. Thank you. To the VFW, AmVets, Grand Ronde Color Guard, Dale Langley, Jan Michael Reibach, Brent Merrill and Bud Abbott. Thank you. Dave Fullerton and Tammy Garrison. Thank you for your help. Kristi DeLoe and help for the excellent meal they prepared. Thank you. T.J. and Nikki for staying at his side when I couldn't. Thank you. Sharon Norwest and family Dear Smoke Signals: Last year I had a close encounter of the worst kind with a Tribal em ployee. This individual not only denied me my rights to freedom of choice, but has severely altered every aspect of my life in a negative way. His arrogance and ego have no place in our work force in any way, shape or form. Nonetheless, he continues to work in a place that gives him access to all Tribal members and their dependents. With no help from his boss, or anyone else for that matter, I had no choice but to file a formal complaint with an outside governing body. On Friday, June 17, 2011, they rendered their decision on this matter, and I wasn't the only one that heard it. But I did record their decision, and it was all in my favor. This situation concerns all Tribal members as well as their dependents, and cannot be taken lightly. Tribal constitutional laws, as well as ethical and moral laws, have been broken. Anyone wanting a copy of the complaint I filed can e-mail me at lvymus tangyahoo.com to get a copy and find out what the decision of the outside governing body was. It simply bothers me to no end that some employee of the Tribe can deny a Tribal member their freedom of choice and still be employed by the Tribe. This is outrageous! Rodney Smith Roll 770 Tribal offices will be closing at noon Friday, July 1, and be closed Monday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.
