While tht middle school and high school students wars in th Tribal
gym on Friday, April 29, for a youth confaranca, Youth Education
Elamantary K-5 Lead Matt Bucknell took tha alamantary school
studants out bahind tha Youth Education Dapartmant naar tha Tribal
Rodao Grounds and down at tha day-usa park to plant Douglas
fir seedlings. Tha group started out 108 new trees during the day.

K-12 Parent Committee meets
The monthly K-12 Parent Committee meetings are held the last Wednes
day of the month from September through June. Meetings are held in the
Youth Education Building from noon to 1 p.m. Lunch is provided.

From noon to 1 p.m., lunch pre
pared by the Tribal Mak MakHaws
will be served at the Tribal Commu
nity Center, across from the West
Valley Veterans' Memorial on the
Tribal campus. Lunch will include
lasagna, mixed vegetables, fruit
and green salad, dinner roll, cake
and drinks.
The official Memorial Day program
begins at 1 p.m. at the Steve Bobb
Sr.-designed memorial and will fea
ture local, regional and statewide
dignitaries also have been invited.
Congressman David Wu is sending
a letter to be read at the event.
Twenty-seven new names, six
of them of Tribal members, will
be unveiled on the memorial's
black marble surfaces during the
ceremony. A feather, signifying
Tribal membership, was added to
Wilson S. Bobb Jr.'s name for the
"-upcoming observance, though his
name previously was included on
the memorial.
Members of the Grand Ronde
Tribal Council, Elders, Grand
Ronde Royalty and the Grand
Ronde Canoe Family all are sched
uled to participate.
The Grand Ronde Honor Guard
and the Tribal Public Affairs Of
fice are coordinating this year's
event. B

including six Grand Ronde

added this year to the four
granite columns of the West
Valley Veterans' Memorial
on the Grand Ronde Tribal
campus.

On the first Monday we will meet at the Community Center to learn to weave,
sew, and bead and get to know more about what's going on in the community.
On the second Monday we will meet at the Tribal Longhouse to learn how to
sing or learn new songs and dances too.
We will provide all dinners. "
