Kim Jin-won is director of the Korea Representative Office, State of Oregon, and Mercier met him during a sister counties delegation trip to South Korea in 2006. He and his wife, Jung Moon Hee, and Youngman, his friend of 30 years, stopped by the Tribe to visit Mercier and the rest of Tribal Council on Monday, Jan. 24. Cultural Trust Board seeks applicants The Tribal Cultural Trust Board is beginning its 2011 grant-making round. Grants ranging from $250 to a maximum of $1,000 are available for Tribal members to use for cultural projects. The grant-making round opens Tuesday, Feb. 15, and last through the end of March. Interested Tribal members can pick up an application packet at the front desk of the Tribal Governance Center or call Cultural Trust Board Chair Perri McDaniel at 541-484-7085 to have an application packet mailed. Completed applications must be received by 3 p.m. Thursday, March 31. D . u Enrollment Committee seeks two alternates The Tribe's Enrollment Committee is seeking two Tribal members who would like to serve as alternates. Those interested can pick up an application at the Tribal Gover nance Center. Closing date to apply is March 1. For more information, call Tribal Elder Louise Medeiros at 503-879-4312. n 'Employment 1 01 ' set for Feb. 23 An "Employment 101" event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednes day, Feb. 23, in the Tribal Adult Education building. Those attending will go through mock interviews and learn resume building, life skills on balancing work and home responsibilities, planning for the future and specific training for state Department of Transporta tion jobs. B Wetieirainis Powwow sett flair J aafly 8-1 D The 2011 Veterans Powwow will be held Friday through Sunday, July 8-10, at Uyxat Powwow Grounds off Hebo Road near Fort Yam hill State Park. Grand entries will be held on 7 p.m. Friday, 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. Sunday. Master of ceremonies will be Nick Sixkiller and whip man will be Tony Whitehead. All veterans, dancers and members of the public are invited to at tend. There will be arts and crafts and food vendors. Free camping and parking will be available, but no drugs, alcohol or pets will be allowed. B Chinuk Wawa classes offered The Tribal Cultural Education Department offers adult Chinuk Wawa language classes from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday in Room 207 of the Tribal Education Building.
