CTGR Competitive Scholarships
Applications are now available for 2011 CTGR Competitive
Scholarships. Applicants must be enrolled members of the Confed
erated Tribes of Grand Ronde. To apply online, please visit www.
grandronde.orgtemplate.aspx?id4172. Please call Education if
you are unable to apply online at 1-800-422-0232, ext. 1345. The
early bird deadline is April 1, and the final deadline is April 30.
Applications received by April 1 will receive one additional point
to the total score.
OSAC scdfloOairsIhiips
The Oregon Student Assistance Commission is now accepting appli
cations for the 2011 process. OSAC administers over 400 scholarships
through their single application for Oregon students. Students who are
members of Oregon Tribes and live out of state are also eligible to apply
if they plan on attending college in Oregon. Visit http:getcollegefunds.
orgeApp.html to apply. This application has an early bird deadline of Feb.
16, and a final deadline of March 1. Early bird applicants are entered into
a $500 scholarship drawing just for turning their application in early.
Oil's FAFSA fiommeS
A requirement of the Tribe's full-time Higher Education programs is
that students apply for federal aid. The Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) form for 2011-12 is available online at www.
fafsa.gov. Should students be eligible, federal student aid can help
pay for tuition, books and fees, and may include a portion of your liv
ing expenses.
The deadline is Feb. 15 to have your applications in for Summer
or Fall TermSemester students. Please send a copy of your com
pleted FAFSA andor a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) to
the Tribal Education Division as soon as possible. You can file your
FAFSA before you file taxes. Remember, this is a free application.
Never pay someone to fill out your FAFSA for you. This is a popular

Computer Workshop
Classes in Grand Ronde
Feb. 8, 2011 Introduction to Microsoft Word 2007
March 8, 2011 Intermediate Microsoft Word 2007
The workshops will be taught by the Northwest Computer Learning
Center and will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the computer lab in the Adult
Education Building.
Cost for the workshop is $150 and eligible Tribal members can apply
to the Noncredit Program for assistance with registration costs. Space is
limited to the first 15 who register.

Chemeketa Foundation Scholarships
Chemeketa Community College is accepting applications for their
Spring 2011 Foundation Scholarships beginning Feb. 14. The ap
plication deadline is Feb. 25. Please visit the Financial Aid tab on
your mychemeketa page to apply. New students need to register with
Chemeketa before they can apply.

Job Growers Incorporated, previously Enterprise for Employment and
Education, the workforce investment board for Marion, Polk and Yamhill
counties, has received funds from the federal Department of Labor to provide
vocational training and, if needed, basic skills (GED) or English language
training (VESL), to enter the following health care occupations:
Direct Care Worker (on the job training), Certified Nurse Assistant I (CNA
I), Certified Nurse Assistant 2 (CNA 2).
WHO IS ELIGIBLE? Applicants must be U.S. citizens OR legal to work in the
United States. Must also be residents of Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties who
are at least 18 years old and are in at least one of the following groups: currently
unemployed workers; Latinos who have the capability of becoming bilingual in
English within six months of English instruction; Native Americans; eligible
veterans; or currently TANF recipients, and current Direct Care Workers.

BOOK REVIEW: "The Hunger Games" L
