Board Chairman Mike Larsen introduced the casino's new President and Chief Executive Officer, Michael Moore, to the general membership. 1996 Bruce Thomas, president of Spirit Mountain Gaming Inc., told the general membership that the opening of the Siletz casino in Lincoln City might affect Spirit Mountain Casino business a little. "About 25 percent of our visitors are people on their way to the coast," he said. "We have great employees and a nice facility. That will keep people coming." 1991 The Tribe, in conjunction with Portland State University's Center for Population Research and Census, prepared a two-part survey to assess the needs and desires of the Tribal population. One question naire was designed for collection of socioeconomic, demographic and health-related information while the other questionnaire sought to assess attitudes toward economic development plans in the service area. 1986 Tribal Council member Cheryle A. Kennedy resigned to devote her time to the Tribal health program, Chairman Mark Merrier announced in a front-page story. Yesteryears is a look back at Tribal history in five-year incre ments through the pages of Smoke Signals. Social Services holding MLK Day Movie Night A Movie Night featuring Alpha and Omega will be held starting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, in the Tribal gymnasium. There will be raffle prizes and hotdogs, nachos, fresh fruit and snacks. The event is sponsored by the Tribal Social Services Department and Community Awareness Team. D Wellness Program meets The Eugene Tribal Wellness Program meets at 10 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. All fitness levels are welcome. The program covers strength, cardio and stretching, and discusses strategies for healthy living at home. The program is free to Tribal members and their spouses. Social Services schedules three trainings in January The Tribe's Social Services Department has scheduled three trainings on Jan. 26-27 that address chemical dependency, bullying and adolescent depression and suicide. From 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, Michael Nerney will discuss the "Impact of Chemical Dependency on Families" in the Tribal Community Center. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided and everyone is welcome to attend. From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, a training titled "Is There a Bully in the Classroom?" will be held in the Tribal Community Center. Dinner will be provided and everyone is welcome. From 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, a training titled "Adolescent Depression and Suicide Prevention" will be held in the Tribal Community Center. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided, and everyone is welcome to attend.
