Chinuk Immersion
Kindergarten program
The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde has its own Chinuk
Immersion Kindergarten program. Students attend Willamina
Elementary in the morning from 8 -1 1:30 a.m. at which time they
are bused out to the Grand Ronde Preschool. The Chinuk Kin
dergarten class runs from noon to 3:30 p.m. at which time they
will need to be picked up or join the K-5 program. The courses
that the children miss in the afternoons in Willamina are mainly
PE, library and music, but we are able to provide those classes
for them. The children learn the Native language of the area and
they are exposed to the local culture. The children are able to
experience many hands-on units about their surrounding area.
They are able to enjoy smaller class sizes and much teacher in
teraction. We are still taking applications for the upcoming school
year. If you would like more information, please contact Kathy
Cole at 503-879-2249.
