Polk County Sheriff's Office Lt. Barbara Shipley helped Arianna shop for her family for Christmas. Tribal Council Vice Chair Reyn Leno, Tribal Council member Steve Bobb Sr. and Social Services Department Manager Dave Fullerton drove the children from Grand Ronde to Dallas for the event. Twenty one children participated. Each child was given $35 to spend on their family members. After shopping, they were driven back to Grand Ronde to wrap the gifts at Willamina Middle School Grand Ronde. Organizing the efforts of half a dozen middle schoolers, as they sorted the clothes and cleaned the place on Dec. 22, was Youth Education manager Molly Matthews, center. Tribal middle schoolers put together 59 bags for individuals and nine family kits from donations. Tribal grade schoolers collected 135 pairs of socks. "And if you look," said Clothes Closet volunteer Kathy Soderberg, "there are no more socks left."
