T I 'f o strata na -hit Tribe's eldest member lived most her life in Grand Ronde By Ron Karten Smoke Signnli tl'ifl writer On Tuesday, Dec. 2, Tribal Elder Nora Kimsey turns 100. On Sunday, Dec. 7, during the monthly General Coun cil meeting, the Tribe will honor Nora for her years of contributions to the Tribe. Nora was born on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1008, in Orand Ronde and raised in the area. She married Loren Kimsey in 1929, a year not unlike the present year economically. Their children are Margaret Provost, Marvin Kimsey and Myrna Brandon, all still living in Grand Ronde. Iter children have 17 children between them, and those children have children, and in all Nora now is grandmother or great-grand mother to 62 more. Many of her descendants remain active and influential with the Tribe and in Tribal activities. Her parents were Cecille Lcno Warren and John M. Warren. John Warren's father was Chief Bogus of the Umpqua Tribe, who was killed by vigilantes on the Trail of Tears, Margaret Provost said. See NORA continued on page 9 ,V 7 " t Tribal Eldr Nora Klmty
