Cultural Resources slates October classes The Tribe's Cultural Resources Department has scheduled several classes in October in Grand Ronde, Portland and Eugene. The classes are: Grand Ronde: Beginning Regalia: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays, Oct. 5 and 12. Tribal members Colleen Payne and Dian Smith will teach the class and stu dents can pick from one of two projects. Traditional Paint and Pigments: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 7, 14 and 21 in Education Room 207. Carved Paint Brush: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 28 and Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 25 in Education Room 207. Chinuk Wawa is every Monday and Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Education Room 207. Eugene Traditional Paint and Pigments: 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 8, 15 and 22. Carved Paint Brush: 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 29 and Nov. 5, 12 and 19 and Dec. 3. Portland Woven Fishing Net and Cordage: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6. Participants need to bring white string and a knife. D Support group forming Food Bank seeks volunteers A support group for parents and caregivers of Grand Ronde children with special needs is forming. If your child, grandchild, foster child, etc., has extra challenges medically, emotionally or developmentally and you would like to collaborate and share resources with other parents, send your contact information in an e-mail to lewis.dmcomcast.net or call David and Donna Lewis at 503-566-3093. Lewis said the support group is compiling an e-mail and telephone contact list and will later coordinate meetings with group members. The Grand Ronde Community Resource Center is seeing additional part-time volunteer help at the Food Bank in Grand Ronde. Help is needed in various activities, such as unloading freight, stocking and labeling shelves, food distribution activities and clerical work. Duties will be assigned based on volunteers' skills and abilities. If you have the time and would like to volunteer a few hours per week, call the Resource Center on Monday or Friday at 503-879-5731 for more details or to obtain an application.
