He lives in Pleasant Hill and was nominated by his great-uncle, Tribal Elder Gene Hudson. Tribal Elder Jackie Many Hides (formerly Provost), Roll 643, 56, worked in the medical field for 20 years and is now a homemaker. She lives in Grand Ronde and was nominated by her great-aunt, Tribal Elder Elinore Anders. Tribal member Brent Merrill, Roll 1362, 47, former editor of Smoke Signals, is now a public rela tions consultant who lives in Grand Ronde. He was nominated by his aunt, Tribal Elder Ellen Fischer. Tribal Elder Patsy Pullin, Roll 238, 65, an Employment and Training Specialist and Social Ser vices caseworker for the Tribe. She lives in Willamina and was nomi nated by her mother, Tribal Elder and longtime Tribal Chairwoman Kathryn Harrison. Tribal member Denise Harvey, Roll 1874, 46, Mentorship and Workforce Development coordina tor for the Tribe. She lives in Tu alatin and was nominated by Tribal member Mary Leith. Tribal Elder Bob Haller, Roll 226, 70, formerly a member of the Tribal Council for 10 years, has retired from the construction industry in which he worked for 30 years. Today, he is a small business owner living in Wil lamina. He was nominated by Tribal Council Secretary Jack Giffen Jr. Tribal member Larry Risteen, Roll 4307, 55, has been bell cap tain for Spirit Mountain Lodge for many years. He lives in Hebo and was nominated by his mother, Trib al Elder Gloria Hudson Engelson. Tribal Elder Debbie Giffen Mar rington, Roll 181, 55, is a home maker helping to take care of her parents. She has worked in office and banking positions for many years. She lives in Sheridan and Brookings, and was nominated by her mother, Tribal Elder Diane Giffen. Tribal Elder Wink Soderberg, Roll 777, 74, has served on Tribal Council for the last three years and for another three-year term 25 years ago, when he served as co-chair. Soderberg had a career in sales, lives in Grand Ronde and was nominated by fellow Tribal Council member Chris Mercier. Tribal Elder Bernadine Shriv er, Roll 1741, 67, is a small busi ness owner living in Gresham. She was nominated by her son, Tribal member Greg Archuleta. Candidates will campaign through the summer with ballots going out on July 23. Candidate Statements will be featured in the next issue of Tilixam Wawa, slated to go out the week of July 21. Results will be counted at the Community Center Illustration created by George Valdez on Saturday, Sept. 6, and posted that evening on the Community Center's front doors. This year's number of candidates does not surpass the 14 Tribal mem bers who ran for Tribal Council in 2003 and 17 Tribal members who ran in 2002.
