Da race practice sDatted Dance practice for upcoming summer powwows will be held in June in the Tribal gymnasium in Grand Ronde. In June, practice will be held 5:30 p.m. Monday, June 2 and 16, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 8 and 22. Practice is open to all Tribal members. B Journey tto make stop in Grand Ronde Participants in the 2008 Peace & Dignity Journey, which treks from Alaska to Panama, will stop in Grand Ronde on June 24 for a 5 p.m. potluck dinner in the barbecue area near the Tribal gymnasium. The 2008 journey focuses on sacred sites throughout the Americas as in digenous people are facing threats to their culture and existence. Peace & Dignity Journeys are runs dedicated to the healing of Native na tions and North American participants are running from Alaska to Panama, where they will meet with South American runners who started at the tip of that continent and ran north. Both Native and nonNative people who are committed to the preservation" of Native American culture are encouraged to participate, and run for as little as one day or the entire duration of the journey. Grand Rondo Tribal members only We will be taking orders for the Nike N-7 shoe. The Nike N-7 Native shoe is wider with a deeper toe box. This shoe was designed with input from Native Americans over a time span of two years. The shoes are only available in the wide width. Price for the shoe is $48 per pair and if anyone wants them shipped it is an additional $7.50 per pair. Orders will be placed the second week in July and will take three to four weeks to arrive in Grand Ronde. The dates to order are as follows: June 30-9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; July 1 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; July 2-9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and July 3 - 9 to 1 1 a.m. Location: CTGR Community Center If you have any questions, call Bonnie at 503-879-2016.
