ClhiDinnuik Wawa cDass ft sttanrtt Jam). 7 A Chinuk Wawa 102 class will begin Monday, Jan. 7, in an upstairs classroom in the Tribe's Adult Education Building in Grand Ronde. The language class is an extension of previous classes and is offered in conjunction with the Tribe's Cultural Education program, Lane Community College, Portland State University and Chemeketa Community College. The class is offered for college credit, but interested community members are welcome to attend. Students need not have taken Chinuk Wawa 101 to take the class. Classes will be held 4:30 to 6:20 p.m. Monday and Wednesday. The class will be broadcast from Grand Ronde and provides an opportunity to inter act with people studying Chinuk Wawa in a variety of places. B PoftDaftclh) Fuimd sDaties ffyrodnraisninig frraimiDimg) The Potlatch Fund is hosting "Journey to Successful Fundraising" from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 17-18 at Kah-Nee-Tah Lodge on the Confeder ated Tribes of Warm Springs Reservation in central Oregon. The seminar is designed for Native students, Tribal staff, artists and Tribal nonprofits working on a project in need of funding, such as youth projects, canoe journey, elder programs, cultural programs and more. The training will help participants develop skills and contacts necessary to get a project funded. The class includes a grant program workbook, group discussions, lunch, Native networking and presentations from experienced Native fundraisers. Cost is $20 for Tribal members and students, $35 for nonprofit employees and $75 for Tribal administrators. For more information, call Justin Finkbonner at 206-624-6076. D Housing Board of Commissioners seeking members Board positions open to Tribal or non-Tribal applicants The Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority Board has three board of commissioners seats expiring in March 2008. The positions have a term expiring in March 2011. Interested persons should have a demonstrated interest in housing and expe rience in the housing field in some capacity, including: affordable housing development, property management, residential building construction, housing finance, housing planning and other housing-related areas. The board oversees all housing development, housing manage ment, housing programs and housing operations for the Tribe, and is responsible for policy decisions. The board currently meets at 5 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Housing Authority office in Grand Ronde, and holds work sessions as needed.
