Also pictured is Kimsey's daughter , Tribal Elder Margaret Provost (I), and Tribal Council Chair Chris Mercier. Aside from a scheduled meeting with Tribal Council, Kulongoski toured the Tribe's Clinic the Tribal Library, and the Tribal Education Complex and made a surprise visit to Tribal Elder Hubert Mercier. She ex plained herself: "My hus band (Dale Lee, 87) is doing all right." "And I'm doing real good." A hard working, keep busy type since she was little, Lee has always under stood the concept of giving back. "When I was young," she said, "I worked all the time, but I didn't want the money." She gave it to her parents. She attended Chemawa Indian School during the war years 1942-44, and re calls making baskets there. "I wish I'd kept it up," she said.
