6 MARCH 15, 2007 Smoke Signals REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL Tribal Housing Landscape Maintenance The Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority (GRTHA) desires to contract for landscape maintenance located in Grand Ronde, Oregon: GRTHA Office, Chxi Musam Illihi (family rental hous ing), Hip Tilixam (Elder rental housing), Elder Foster Housing and Grand Meadows (manufactured home subdivision). Proposals must be mailed with post marks dated no later than March 29, 2007 to GRTHA, 28450 Tyee Road, Grand Ronde, OR 97347, or delivered no later than 4 p.m. March 30, 2007 to the same address. Indian contractors will be granted a 5 allowance to match lowest bid. Contact the Authority at 503-879-2401 for further information or a proposal packet. NWIHA Scholarship For Tribal Youth The Northwest Indian Housing Association (NWIHA) annually provides scholarships to Tribal youth, defined as Tribal members age 24 years old or younger. The intent of the scholarship is to provide financial awards to youth for education and training programs at colleges. Traditionally individual awards have not exceeded $1,000. Applications are available by contacting the Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority at 503-879-2401 or 1-800-422-0232 ext. 2401. OPPORTUNITY FOR COMMENT ON GRTHA'S 2006 ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REPORT The Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority is seeking public comment on the 2006 Annual Performance Report for submis sion to HUD's Office of Native American Programs. All public comments will be included in the final report. Copies of the draft report or an executive summary, are available by calling GRTHA at 503 879-2401, or 1-800-422-0232, ext. 2401. You may also pick up a copy at the Housing Authority office. Comments should be-submitted to GRTHA no later than 5 p.m. March 27, 2007 CALLING ALL KIDS! IT'S A POSTER CONTEST! It's time for the AMERIND Risk Management Corporation, 2007 National Fire and Home Safety Poster Contest, for children currently in grades K through 8 (only one entry per child). All posters entered are to illustrate a fire safety theme, and must be originals created by the child in crayon, markers or paint, drawn horizontally on 8.5" x 11" paper (no pencils, please). This year's winner of the poster contest will receive a $2,000 savings bond in his or her name. Entry forms are available through the Grand Ronde Tribal Housing Authority office, at 28450 Tyee Road, Grand Ronde, or by calling Shawn Kennedy or Deborah Kroeker at extension 2401. Grand Ronde Honor Guard To Welcome And Honor Veterans On Sunday, March 18, the Grand Ronde Honor Guard will wel come and honor approximately 125 Veterans from WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War. H 1:30 p.m. Veterans arrive at Spirit Mountain Casino D 3:00 p.m. Grand Ronde Honor Guard honor the war veter ans at the Veterans' Memorial, located outside the Grand Ronde Governance Building. LA-KET THIN LOGGING UNIT SALE OF TIMBER, GRAND RONDE INDIAN RESERVATION, La-Ket Thin Logging Unit, located in portions of Sections 11, 12, 13, and 14, Township 5S, Range 8W, Willamette Meridian, Yam hill County, Oregon. This logging unit contains approximately 104.0 acres to be commercially thinned with a timber volume of approximately 1542 MBF saw logs of all species. This consists of an estimated volume of 1542 MBF of Douglas-fir and Other Conifers - Peeler and Sawmill Grade Logs to be auctioned at a minimum bid rate of $303.57 per thousand board feet net scale, an estimated volume of 0 MBF of Red Alder and Other Hardwoods - Peeler and Sawmill Grade Logs at a predetermined rate of $474.30 per thousand feet net scale, All Conifer Species - Wood Logs and Other Wood Products at the predetermined rate of $88.20 per thousand board feet gross scale or $13.57 per ton, and Hardwood Wood Logs & other wood products at the pre-determined rate of $64.80 per thousand feet gross scale or $9.97 per ton.
