This announcement is for children who are three years old by September 1, 2006 to children who are five years old (pre-kindergarten) and income eligible. Our first day of school is September 5, 2006. Selection and notification will be made by mid-August and you will be notified if your child has been accepted or declined. Children with special needs are strongly encouraged to apply. Transportation may be provided. Attention All Higher Education and Adult Vocational Training Students: If you will be a new or returning student in Fall, 2006, doivl forget to apply for the 2006-2007 Free Application For Student Aid (FAFSA). Applications are available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov and at any college, university or library. It is a requirement for all Higher Education and Adult Vocational Training Program students to apply for the FAFSA each year. Remember, never pay to have a FAFSA completed or submitted! It is free. Sheila accepted the Library Aide position in May. Sheila will be working in the Library on Saturdays. Registration closed on Thursday, June 15 for the Tribal Library's Summer Reading Incentive Program that will run through Friday, August 11. ' ' The Tribal Library supports the Regional Library's Summer Read ing Program, "Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales" this year. The following activities will be sponsored by the Library: Story and activity sessions are held on Thursdays from 3-4 p.m. each week for children in grades K-5 through Thursday, August 10. Story and activities will focus on the theme so will be about animals andor pets this year. A Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales activity session will be held on Thursdays from 10-1 1 a.m. for youth in grades 6-8 beginning June 8th and ending Thursday, August 10. Creature Feature started Tuesday, June 13 through Thursday, August 10 and will be held from 12:10 - 12:50 p.m. for high school youth at the Youth Education Center Monday - Thursday. Film story discussion will lead each viewing session. Poetry Recital Reading: Wednesday, July 12 at 6:30 p.m. Saturday activity for children in grade K-3 will be at noon on Sat-. urday, July 22. Cost for a workshop is $150 and eligible Tribal members can apply to the Short Term Training program for assistance with registration costs. Space is limited to the first 15 who register. All students are required to file for Federal Financial Aid. Continuing students are expected to file prior to February 15 of each year. A copy of the Federal Financial Aid application must be submitted to the Tribal Education Program in order to determine program eligibility. 2. All students are responsible for having their grade reports sent to the tribal Education Program upon completion of each TermSemester. Either make arrangements with the Registrar's office to have the reports sent directly to the tribal office or mail a copy of your grade report to the tribal office yourself. 3. All students must maintain a 2.00 GPA and successfully complete a mini mum of 12 credit hours per termsemester to remain eligible for funding. are nlaced on PROBATIONARY STATUS will not be awarded the following T""" term until they have provided the Tribal Education Program Specialist a copy of their grade reporttranscript. Transcripts must include the term of probation and must show successful completion of 12 credit hours and verify that a 2.00 GPA has been earned. NO AWARD WILL BE MADE UNTIL TRANSCRIPTS HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED. 5. It is the student's responsibility to remain in "good academic standing." If a student demonstrates an on againoff again pattern of being placed on Probationary Status, they will be placed on probationary status for one com plete academic year. Failure to meet minimum academic and or attendance requirements during the probationary termsemester will result in suspen sion from the program. 6. Students, please notify the Education Department of address changes and telephone number changes as soon as they occur. 7. If emergencies occur that affect your attendance notify the Education Program and the college IMMEDIATELY! (Tribal Education Specialist, College Registrar's Office, College Financial Aid Office.) 8. Students who withdrew from school due to medical or health related rea sons must obtain a Statement of Verification from their physician or health care provider identifying need to withdraw from school. Student must also obtain a Statement of Releases from their physician that identifies ability to return to school. Copies of physician's statements must be submitted to the Education Program Specialist. 9. All students must sign a "Release of Information" form regarding at tendance, financial aid transcripts, education budgets, progress and grade reports. 10.
