Viacom Television Stations News Apprenticeship Program Applications are now being accepted for the Viacom Television Stations News Apprenticeship Program for stations in Boston, Minneapolis and San Francisco. . This is a 6-month, paid apprenticeship in which those selected will learn how a television station operates behind the camera. You'll train on the assignment desk, in special projects, promo tions, as a writer and a producer. The goal is to offer jobs at one of the VTSG stations for those who successfully complete the pro gram but there is no guarantee of employment. The goal is for apprentices one day to become managers in VTSG newsrooms. Tribal Library News Monday - Wednesday: 8 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. Thursday & Friday: 8 a.m. 5 p.m. (closed Friday Noon - 1 p.m.) Saturday: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The Tribal Library will host a Poetry Recital on Wednes day, November 30, 2005 at 6:30 p.m. You may read your own poetry or recite other poets work. This event is limited to 15 people due to space restrictions; please contact the library by calling 503-879-1488 to register. Library services for Oct. 3-19 are as follows: We issued 24 new library cards, had 261 patron visits, processed 420 circulations, had 51 donations and had 36 patrons using the computers. 287 titles have been added to the library collection during the months of Sep tember and October. 108 new items were purchased with our IMLS Enhancement grant funds; 161 items were donated (both new and used); 1 item was gifted by Books Are Fun; 1 item was gifted by the Maori visitors; 1 item was provided by the Early Literacy Workshop trainer and the Education Scholarship program provided 15 items on scholarship and college funding. The total library collection hold ing is at 3,844 items now. The next Discover Native Oregon workshop will be held on No vember 12, 2005 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Tribal member, Sam Henny, will teach participants weaving techniques using hemp and yarn. Each participant will make a small basket using two colors. Regis tration is required. Class size is limited to 20 adults. Call ext. 1488 to register. Book Club meets on second Saturday at noon - 1 p.m. and on fourth Monday at 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Teen Advisory meets at 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. on the third Thursday. Activity sessions for K - 4th grade students are held on the fourth Saturday at noon 1:30 p.m. Hope to see you at the library sometime soon. American Indian Services Scholarship Qualified students are eligible for up to one half of tuition, with a mini mum of $500 and a maximum of $1,500. Applicants must be enrolled full or part time as an undergraduate at a college, university, or technical school; have less than 150 semester or 210 quarter credit hours; a mini mum 2.25 CPA and be at least 14 Native American. Application dead line is November 15 for classes starting in January.
