Gathering Of Honor On the weekend of July 8-10, Grand Ronde hosted the annual Veterans' Pow-wow. Nez Perce Tribal Elder Steve Rueben led the afternoon
grand entry with about 300 people following. With no fry bread on the property, people relied on the elephant ear stand which closed after four hours due to exhaustion
and a shortage of supplies. There were 24 vendors, 1 1 8 motorcycles and as many as 500 Medals ofValor handed out. VETERANS' POW-WOW PULLOUT INSIDE.

more than a dozen Tribes
joined Grand Ronde Elders
on Friday, July 15, for the 2005 El
ders' Honor Day activities.
The Tribal gymnasium was packed
from 11 a.m. throughout the day, be
ginning with the invocation from
Tribal Council member Wesley
"Buddy" West, singing and drum
ming from Richard "Bubba" Sohappy
(Y akama) and Tribal member Travis
Mercier, and a historical essay by
