Native Wellness Institute
Invitational Culture Camp
June 28-30, 2005
Come join Native Youth from many Tribes in this event
ful three-day Culture Camp. All participants will camp
at Grand Ronde for two nights. This event is for 8th
12th grade Tribal youth. Limited space is available.
Contact the Youth Education Secretary, Janel Lara, at

New Library Hours Effective June 15, 2005:
Monday - Wednesday: 8 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Thursday & Friday: 8 a.m. - 5: p.m.
(closed Friday Noon 1 p.m.)
Saturday: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Saturday, June 25
Noon - 1:30: An Activity Center will be set up for children ages 5 -10
years old. A different activity will be offered each 4th Saturday of
the month at the Tribal Library.
Monday, June 27
5:30 - 6:30 p.m.: Book Club meeting. We will be selecting a new
theme for the reading club for the summer months. This book club
is for adults. Book club meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday of the
month from noon 1 p.m. and on the 4th Monday of the month from
5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
The Library will sponsor Summer Program activities beginning in
July. A schedule of activities will be posted in the July 1 issue of
Smoke Signals. Activities will include: an individual reading incen
tive program for children & youth ages 5 to 12; Teen Advisory
Council to the Library activities & 'Teen Cafe.' Group activities for
ages 5-12 will be offered twice during the month of July & August
and we will host an end of Summer Family Day at the library in
late August.

Grand Ronde HeadStart
Recruitment runs from April-July. This announcement is for children who
are three years old by September 1, 2005 to children who are five years old
(pre-kindergarten) and income eligible. Our first day of school is Septem
ber 6, 2005. Please call Sandy Bobb at 503-879-2161 for an application or
if you have any questions. Selection and notification will be made by mid
August and you will be notified if your child has been accepted or declined.
Children with special needs are strongly encouraged to apply.

Transitional Class
June 21-24, 2005
9 a.m. - 2 p.m. (lunch served)
If you are entering the 9th grade next school year,
come and join us for a fun "jump start" to a successful
school year! You will learn new skills in organization,
communication, study skills and the "ins and outs" of
entering high school. This class will be challenging,
fun and prizes will be given away.

- Recent and Upcoming Graduates
The Education Division provides funding up to $100 to assist
with the purchases of your graduation costs such as a cap, gown
and invitations. In order to receive this funding, please send the
following information.
A letter indicating your need for assistance
A copy of your graduation costs.
A copy of your Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Tribal ID.
