14 APRIL 1, 2005 Smoke Signals Annual Meeting At St. Pow-wow Committee Accepting Bids For Meals The Pow-wow Committee is accepting bids for the meals catered during the Annual Contest Pow-wow, August 19-21, 2005. Bids should include the following: Breakfast Saturday & Sunday morning for 600 people each day. Native American Artists Wanted Celebrating Traditions: Native American Art and Culture, Inc. is looking for qualified musicians to participate in a Native American Artists Festival to be held on June 3-5, 2005. Flutists, drum groups, etc. are invited to represent their nations and Native America in a three-day event open to the public in Oakridge, Oregon. (Oakridge is located in Central Oregon on Hwy 58.) Michael Church April 16 The Oregon Catholic Historical Society will be holding its annual meet ing at St. Michael Church on Hebo Road this year. The date is Saturday, April 16. Time is set for 10:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. In the morning, Father Martinus Cawley of the Trappist Abbey in Lafayette will speak about the history of the mission of Father Croquet and subsequent priests and how the St. Michael Church came to be an influential presence in the Grand Ronde community. Following a luncheon, Tribal Elder Kathryn Harrison will share stories of the life and times of the Native American peoples of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. Crab Time On Monday, February 1 4, Tribal Elders were treated to a crab feed at the Community Center. Tribal Elder Russ Leno (right) and Linda LaChance picked out a nice crab to eat.
