Hatfield Congressional Fellowship are now available. Each year, a Hatfield Fellow serves as an intern for a member of Oregon's Congressional delegation. The Hatfield Fellow is selected from adult Native American applicants, who are enrolled members of a federally recognized Tribe in Oregon. If there are no qualified applicants from Oregon, enrolled members of federally recognized Tribes in Washing ton , Idaho and Montana will be considered. The candidate will intern in Washington, D.C. for nine months and will receive a monthly stipend, relocation and travel ex penses, and tuition for the American Political Science Association orientation. Applicants will then be notified if they qualify for interviews. Late applica tions will not be accepted. The Fellowship honors Mark Hatfield for his accomplishments as a United States Senator, a former Governor of Oregon, and for his mentorship of many leaders in their own communities. First Annual Native American High School Journalism Institute August 20-24 at Oregon State University & Grand Ronde This is a production-based journalism institute. As a member of the institute you will select a journalism track or a video track. Your group will produce either a tabloid publication that you will design, write and edit or your group will shoot a video where you will be responsible to write, shoot and edit. The central theme of the institute is to document the Grand Ronde Pow-wow. The best part of the Native American High School Journalism Institute is that it's free. All you need to do is get to and from Corvallis and we'll take care of you the rest of the time. Your lodging, meals, instruction and fun times are all FREE.
