ber happening in Grand Ronde.

variation on the Indian word for
"rabbit." Wasco and Sahaptin are
bands of today's Warm Springs Confederation.
The former Larry Dick, member
of the Wasco Band of Warm
Springs Indians, now exclusively
using his In
dian given
name, Taaw

led the cer
emony. He is
"spiritual, cul
tural, tradi
tional leader of
the Wasco," he
said.
He learned his craft from Chief
Nelson Wallulatum, also of the
