Smith & Gertrude McCoy Smith, and granddaugh ter of Lorene B, Smith, gave birth to Talia LaeLani Marrufo, born on October 18, 2003 at 6:54 a.m., weighing in at 7lbs., 20 34 inches long. Our family would like to congratulate Kateri and John on birth of their daughter, Talia. We wish you a long and happy life together as a family. Always know that your family loves you. I nlllll.. Frances Virgelene Ring May 24, 1921 December 2, 2003 Frances was born on the Long Branch in Trail, Oregon to Frances & Lewis Russell. She attended school in Trail, Medford, and Graduated from Prospect High School with her young est son and attended Southern Oregon State College. She married George William Ring, Jr., Gold Hill on Nov. 4, 1937 and together they had five chil dren. Both Frances and George lived and loved their true home of Prospect where they raised their five children and nurtured many other young people. Frances was a wonderful Christian woman who delighted in her lord and was a faithful member of her church. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping. She was a rock hound and an avid bird watcher and gardener. She was a born teacher and began the first preschool in prospect called "Sonshine" school. In Eagle Point she taught children in her home, tutored older students to read and was a Foster Grandparent working at Glen D. Hale School. She taught her great-grandchildren weekly until her death. Frances has spent many years working and helping as a historian and in genealogy, not just for her own family but helping many Native Americans to be able to come back to their Tribe, The Confederated Tribe of the Grand Ronde. She is survived by four of her children: Michael Ring Grand Ronde, Patricia Hoopingarner Grand Ronde, Georgene Shafer Eagle Point, Oregon and Mary Ring Reno, Nevada. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, two brothers Oakland & Russell Womelsdorf and one sister AnnaLee Landreth. She is preceded in death by her husband George W. Ring, Jr., her son Monte Ring and her sister Roselia Culbertson.
