Taylor Lumber Site: Health Study Findings
To Be Presented On May 20
Health officials at the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) will
discuss their assessment of health risks associated with the spilling of wood
treatment chemicals at Taylor Lumber and Treating, Inc., located at the
western edge of Sheridan, in a public meeting this month.
The meeting is set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, at Sheridan
City Hall, 120 S.W. Mill Street in Sheridan.
Based on environmental sampling at the former lumber site, DHS has
determined there is no apparent public health hazard. Because there may
be community questions, attendees will be provided one-on-one discussion
opportunity with public health officials.
DHS conducted the public health assessment in collaboration with the
federal Agency for Toxic Substances and Diseases Registry (ATSDR). The
entire report is available on the Web at www.healthoregon.orgsuperfund
or at the McMinnville Public Library, the Sheridan Public Library or the
Grand Ronde Tribal Community Clinic. Public comments can be sent to:
