Now is the time to start thinking about joining the Grand Ronde Royalty Court. Participating in the Royalty Court is an excellent chance for young Tribal women to represent the Tribe in a positive way. It does require com mitment and time, but is a tremendous honor. There will be dance, proto col, craft and speaking classes that will help prepare yourself to be on Royalty. Any young lady who would like to participate in Royalty to gain experi ence may as a Princess, and not compete this year for a Queen position. We encourage any Interested young lady who Is a Tribal member, between the ages of 5 and 21, to Join us. Participants must be an enrolled member of the Grand Ronde Tribe, be alcohol and drug free, be childless and never married. If school age, must be attending school (private or public) full-time. Girls must be within the following age categories by January 15, 2001 : Miss Tiny Tot 5-8 years of age . - Junior Miss Grand Ronde 9-1 4 years of age Senior Miss Grand Ronde 1 5-1 8 years of age Miss Grand Ronde 1 9-21 years of age Participants must have their own regalia. It Is not the responsibility of the Royalty Committee, Tribal Council, or any other Tribal program to provide. Members of the Royalty Court are not paid positions. Although, the chosen Queens and Princesses will receive motel fees and a set amount for travel expenses for attending required events. For all fund-raisers and ac tivities that Royalty is Involved in, the court and their families or sponsors are required to participate. All the members on the Royalty Court must show good judgement by not participating in any activities that could bring adverse publicity to themselves or the Tribe. All members of Royalty must comply with the Royalty guidelines and the Royalty agreement. The deadline for submitting a application is January 15, 2002. Hebo Rd, Grand Ronde, OR 97347 Proposed Amendments to Grand Ronde Gaming Commission Regulations, Minimum Internal Control Standards and Game Rules The Grand Ronde Gaming Commission has proposed amendments to its Regu lations, Minimum Internal Control Standards and Game Rules. The proposed amendments will be presented at the General Session during the November 16, 2001 meeting of the Grand Ronde Gaming Commission. The purpose of the amendments is to make technical, organizational and substantive changes to the Regulations and Minimum Internal Control Stan dards to update them in light of changes to the Gaming Compact between the Tribe and the State of Oregon and pending changes to the Gaming Ordinance, and to provide for more efficient enforcement of applicable gaming laws. The organizational changes to the Regulations include, but are not limited to, the removal of game rules to a new document entitled "Game Rules" and condens ing the Regulations into fewer, subject specific chapters. The substantive changes to the Regulations include, but are not limited to, modifying the process for appeals of licensing decisions to the Commission, modifying the process for taking disciplinary action against licensees, modifying the license renewal pro cess, increasing reporting requirements of the gaming operation, and adding monitoring and control system requirements for Video Lottery Terminals (VLT). The Minimum Internal Control Standards were re-organized and condensed with amendments to the sections on poker tournaments, VLT jackpot verifica tions, complimentaries and player tracking.
