Tower
TOWER WORK BEGINS - The
Tribe's new communications
tower that is being constructed
atop a ridge just north of the
Tribe's Spirit Mountain Casino is
progressing thanks to the unusu
ally mild weather in the West Val
ley lately. Pictured here is the
"drilled shafts" that are part of
the foundation for the nearly 200
foot-tall tower. The large diam
eter holes are about 30 feet deep
to support the three legs of the
tower. Once the concrete foun
dation has been poured and its
strength tested, erection of the
tower will begin. A Tribal contrac
tor is doing the construction of
the on-site building and CTGR
Trucking is assisting in getting the
tower to the site.

Road construction
Blacktail Drive, the road that connects the Elder's housing to the Tribal Governance
Center, and Salmon Way, which runs in front of the governance building, are being
extended. At the same time, water services, storm drains and sewer services are also
being installed for the future phases of the Elder's housing and the planned Educa
tion building. The Education building construction is scheduled to begin in the spring.
The road construction should be finished in the next week and the paving will also be
complete in the spring. .

Fiber Optics
Crews hung fiber optic cables from the Tribal Governance Center to
the Natural Resources department for voice and data system net
works. The new cable replaces the old radio system.

Community Center
COVERED WALKWAY At the request of Tribal Council, a new covered entrance
way is being constructed at the Tribe's Community Center. The covered area pro
vides a dry canopy for Elder's to be dropped off at the Community Center without
having to walk in the rain. This covered area replaces the previous covering that
was too low and had been damaged.
RECEPTION DESK - A reception desk has been installed at the Community Center.
The same contractor that is doing the covered entrance way is constructing the
new desk.
