Pharmacy expansion increases services
A growing Tribal population has increased the need for an expanded phar
macy. Before the new expansion, prescriptions were limited to 200 a day.
Now with the accommodation for more staff work space, the pharmacy can
handle up to 600 prescriptions requests per day.
New guidelines:
School immunizations
By Marline Groshong RN
Yes, it's that time again. School will be back in session before you know it
and our little one's must be vaccinated. The State of Oregon has new guide
lines and children from kindergarten on up need to have at least the first
Hepatitis B injection and varicella (chicken pox). Children at least four years'
old must have their second Measles, Mumps and Rubella immunizations.
The Grand Ronde Health and Wellness Center does not have the capabil
ity to store varicella, it must be obtained from another provider's office or
through the health department. However, on July 20 from 1-4 p.m. we will
be giving vaccinations at the clinic. No appointment is necessary during
those hours. Thank you and have a safe and fun summer.

As reported in the last issue of Smoke Signals, we will soon begin construction
on the Grand Ronde Health and Wellness Center that will require the main entrance
to be blocked off. We will be constructing a new covered walkway into the main
entrance of the clinic. For the safety of our clients, public entry through the main
entry doors will not be allowed during construction. We will accommodate clinic
access by other means of entry.
We have not scheduled the construction at this time. However, we opened bids
for the construction on June 9. Future editions of Smoke Signals will provide
updated information regarding this construction project. For questions, please
contact John Mercier at (503) 879-2400.
