10 Smoke Signals Young tribal member appears on Real TV By Brent Merrill Juggling a golf ball like Tiger Woods in the highly popular Nike commercial has brought a bit of ce lebrity to 17-year-old tribal member Ty Albertson. In the commercial, Woods juggles a golf ball at the end of a club. Woods, the world's top golfer, bounces the ball between his legs, behind his back and eventually hits it straight down a fairway. Albertson, who lives in Kennewick, Wa. and attends Kennewick High School, began juggling a golf ball shortly after taking up the game two years ago. When he saw the com mercial featuring Woods, he began imitating the moves and eventually got it down. While watching the television show Real TV, the family encouraged Albertson to send in a video of his juggling act to the show. Albertson, who mostly plays base ball and appeared in the Little League World Series at the age of 12, con tacted the show via the Internet and they asked for a tape. He put his golf act on video and sent it in. Eventually, Real TV came to Kennewick and filmed him at Tri Cities Country Club. Albertson's mom, Patty, said Ty has become a bit of a local legend from the exposure. "He was juggling a little bit before the commercial, but then when he ' ' u Ty Albertson saw the commercial he realized all the other things he could do," said Patty. "It was so exciting. They call you about two weeks in advance to let you know when it will be on. He has been a local celebrity since then." Albertson is busy golfing for the high school team and reports that he has his handicap down to a four. He said his team has a chance at mak ing the state playoffs in Washington this season.
