November 7, 1997 SMOKE SIGNALS Timber Committee opportunity The Timber Committee is seeking interested applicants for positions on the committee. It is the duty of the Timber Committee to assist the Tribal Council to provide quality services to the tribal membership and to develop, maintain, and protect the Tribe's interests and assets involving the timber resource on the Reservation. Family history displayed on quilts There is still time to have your family photos included on the Tribal History Quilt. The next scheduled quilt sewing meetings are Saturday, November 1 and Friday, November 7 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Community Center. SueAnn Suderman will be present to help anyone who needs advice or assistance. If you have not picked up your photo fabric and other materials, it will be available at either sewing session. Culture board meeting KWELTH TAHLKIE CULTURE AND HERITAGE BOARD will hold its monthly meeting beginning at 1 0: 1 0 a.m. on Saturday, November 1 at the Tribal Community Center. The agenda includes the following: Election of officers of the Board Master Plan Policies and Procedures All tribal members are always welcome to attend Board meetings. The move of meeting day to Saturdays is a step aimed at accommodating the needs of tribal members. The event rated two photos and a story in the Portland Oregonian. Plans are pending to have the bronzed basket on exhibit in Grand Ronde one day later this month. Bobby Mercier and Dustin Harmon made a trip to Corbett Acres last month to take tribal youth on a camas dig.
