July 18, 1997 SMOKE SIGNALS 5 Congratulations to ANGELA FASANA! We are all very proud of you and your achievement. Lots of love - Mom and Dad. f v y I. Angela earned her Juris Doctor degree from Lewis and Clark Northwestern School of Law and graduated last May. She earned her B.S. from Portland State Univer sity in 1994, and graduated from Willamina High School in 1990. She is married to Ariah Fasana and they have a fifteen month old daughter, Cheyanne. Angela is cur rently working for the Tribe's legal department while studying for her bar exam which she will take in July. Member passes away: Gwendolyn Lee Darling Tribal member Gwendolyn Lee Darling passed away of natural causes at her home in Portland on June 29. She was the daughter of Edward and Edith Leno, and born in Grand Ronde on July 14, 1930. Gwendolyn was a twenty year resident of Madras, Or egon before moving to portland in 199 1 . She was a home maker all of her life. She suffered back injuries in a car accident, but put her two daughters first, taking care of them even before she was able to heal. Her survivors include her children: Larry Darling of Wallace Idaho; Steve Darling of Idaho; Pam Darling of Portland; and Trina Smith of Grass Valley, Oregon. She is survived by two brothers, Mike Leno and George Flake, both of Madras; sister, Pat Baker of Warm Springs; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Gwendolyn was preceded in death by Beckie and Dina Darling; and sister, Lorraine Crowley. A graveside service was held on July 3, 1997 at Mt. Jefferson Memorial Park is Madras, Gwendolyn's final rest ing place. U.S.D.A.
