March 1, 1997 SMOKE SIGNALS 7 Adult education classes EASTER CRAFTS WITH CONNIE: Wednesday, March 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Grand Ronde Room (Upstairs, Education Training Bldg). Connie Graves, a lo cal talent and tribal member, will be offering an Easter Craft Class. Participants will have the opportunity to weave an Easter Basket out of cloth. You are invited to come and express (or discover) your talents in a fun-filled evening. Crafts can be easily completed in class. Enrollment is lim ited with priority given to CTGR tribal members, so call now to sign up. Supplies are included for tribal members; other participants will be asked to pay a nominal fee for the materials they use. PORTLAND AREA SURVEY: The Adult Education Program wants to know how many Portland area Grand Ronde tribal members, 16 years or older, who would be interested in the following classes in their area: 0 DRUM MAKING CLASS 0 HARD SOLE MOCCASIN DEMONSTRATION and MOCCASIN MAKING CLASSES We have offered these classes in Grand Ronde and Eu gene with very positive responses from the students. Stu dents have the opportunity to make hard sole, southern, or wrap around moccasins. This class meets 5 to 6 times dur ing a 6 to 8 week period. Students should be able to attend every class and can sign up for the Moccasin Making Classes during the Hard Sole Moccasin Demonstration. TIME CHANGE IN EUGENE MOCCASIN CLASS: Students in the current Moccasin classes now meet at 10 a.m. at Lane Community College in Room 1 13. Next classes convene on March 1, 8, and 15. GRAND RONDE GED CLASSES: Local GED Classes will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m. until March 20. GED classes will begin again after Spring Break. Classes are cosponsored with Chemeketa Community College and open to the community, as well as tribal members. The Hotel OperationsGuest Services class for Spring Term 1997 is currently 70 full. Enrollment is still available, but once the enrollment ceiling of 30 participants is reached, all other applicants will be placed on a "waiting list." Due to scheduling and logistics, the Spring class will be conducted at Chemeketa Community College, Salem Campus, Building 7, Room 107.
