We appreciate and recognize all the achievements our tribal students are making. Special thanks to Lisa Leno for "a lot" of help in planning to make sure the event was a success. Thanks also to Craig Toll for making our invitations and programs, you did a wonderful job! Thanks to the artists who made our graduate gifts this year: Joann Mercier, Sharon Norwest, and Gina Ornelas. It was an honor to have Bill Wilson with us to play an honor song on his flute for those students being recognized and also to have our own tribal drum group "Healing Spirit" with us to honor the graduates with songs and drumming. Members of the drum are: Duane Many Hides, Buckskin Holmes, Cole Thacker, Josh Holmes, Samson George, Jake Holmes, David Holmes, Dustin Billings, and Jessica Holmes. We are very proud of our drum group. The Education staff works hard to provide the most effective services pos sible to meet the needs of the members. We are very fortunate to have skilled, professional staff members, dedicated Tribal Education Committee members, active Student Advisory Council members, and committed Tribal Council members working together for the good of the Grand Ronde tribal people. I am happy and thankful that I have the opportunity to be a part of this team. Look for a pictorial honoring graduates and achievements in the next issue of Smoke Signals. 4 3E I IH i ' - r'rfn Wendi Spencer and Joann Empey (center) congratulated some of the Tribe's high school graduates at the Honor and Recognition dinner.
