June 7, 1996 JHfrrrr?ftritffcT I f f smoke signals jmmuiim I CULTURAL NATIVE ELDER POSITION : 96-31 DEPARTMENTDIVISION: Dependency Program Nanitch Sahallie Youth Chemical We are further enhancing the culture aspect of the treatment program by having Native Elders who are available to be a part of the treatment program on a regular basis. We will have two Native Elders who spend approximately ten-twenty hours each week at the treatment program. Their role will be to serve as teachers, advisors, role models and helpers to the staff and young people we serve. We need Native Elders to help us be rooted firmly in our past as we move to the future in the treatment program. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Ten vears experience working with American Indian youth in a cultural capacity. Sensitive to the diversity of Native cultures; and knowledge of disease of alcohol and other drug addictions. A degree in psychology, social work or related field; and two years of relevant experience counseling youth and or chemically dependent individuals would be helpful. Education requirements can be met with any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skill and ability to perform the above described duties. DUTIES: Work with staff in classroom, playground and field trip supervision; Assist in keeping classroom facilities clean; Replenishing materials and supplies for classroom activities; Assist staff in preparing snacks; Maintain safe environment for children QUALIFICATIONS: Possess high school diploma, G.E.D or is working towards completion of high school program or G.E.D. DUTIES: Plan a weekly menu and prepare a food needs list for shopping Assist in keeping kitchen area clean; Supervise a kitchen assistant when needed Assist staff in preparing snacks; Maintain safe environment for children; Work well with staff QUALIFICATIONS: Possess qualifications needed to show experience in food service Ability to work well with children, prefer some experience Dependable and ability to work well with others Willingness to participate in additional training ADDITIONAL: Must submit to U.A. screening; Must submit to background check Must have driver's licence and good driving record Early Childhood Classroom Aide STARTING SALARY: $5.50 per hour (25 to 30 hours per week) LOCATION: Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, Early Childhood Development Building REPORTS TO: Youth Education Assistant ECE Coordinator CLOSING DATE: Open until filled LENGTH OF CONTRACT: JULY 1 to AUG. 30, 1996 This will be a 25 to 30 hour per week position which will assist the classroom teacher in all aspects of classroom management, including: planning, preparation, and implementation of activities for pre-school age (3-5 yrs.) DUTIES: Work with staff in classroom, playground and field trip supervision; Assist in keeping classroom facilities clean; Replenishing materials and supplies for classroom activities; Assist staff in preparing snacks; Maintain safe environment for children; Work with staff in addressing children's personal and emotional needs as necessary; Work with staff in providing instructional program as needed; Assist in supervision of instructional field trips; Assist staff in recording of child observations as necessary. QUALIFICATIONS: Possess high school diploma, G.E.D. oris working towards completion of high school program or G.E.D.
