Business Information Center: It's a good thing
By Tracy Dugan
On August 17 a dedication ceremony was
held at the Small Business Development Cen
ter inviting tribal members to utilize the new
materials they now have.
There were many people from both the Wash
ington, D.C. and Portland Small Business Ad
ministration offices who were instrumental in
helping the Tribe receive its BIC, and who at
tended the dedication ceremony. They were:
Cassandra Pulley, Monica Edwards-Harrison,
John Gillman, and Don Matsuda. Also in at
tendance was Patrick Borunda, of the Oregon
Native American Business and Entrepreneur
ial Network.
The guests each spoke briefly about the con
ception of the BIC project and how the Tribe
received these business materials.
One of the best things about the Business
Development Center is that it offers something
for anyone who is interested in starting a small
business enterprise. Small Business Develop
ment now has a sizeable library of information
including videos, computer programs, and in
dividual business start-up guides for almost any
business one might imagine. If you have never
been interested in being an entrepreneur, visit the
Business Information Center, and you will be.
John Gillman of the Portland SBA office, and
Monica Edwards-Harrison, from Washington,
D.C. display the dessert for the BIC dedication.
