1992 Ethnic Arts Celebration
Mid-Valley Arts Council is a non-profit organization in Salem,
committed to serving the tri-county region of Marion, Polk and
Yamhill counties. In our effort to celebrate the cultural diversity of
our communities, we sponsor an annual Ethnic Arts Celebration.
The event features a month-long, non-juried visual arts exhibit
and a performing artists showcase on opening day. Our third
annual Celebration will be held this September.
The 1991 Ethnic Arts Celebration, which was held at the Salem
Public Library, was very successful. Twenty-eight artist from
many different traditions and ethnic origins exhibited their work.
Eight individualsgroups participated in the performance show
case which was the official kick-off for the exhibit. The commu
nity response was great; attracting a full-house on opening day.
We are very excited about this year's Celebration. We hope to
have even more ethnic groups represented in both the visual
exhibit and the performance showcase.
Would you, or someone you know, be interested in participat
ing in this year's Celebration? We want visual and performing
artists whose work reflects their cultural heritage, which may be
either traditional or contemporary.
