Smoke Signals January 1991 page 4 Job Announcement: POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION: Contract Health Services-Accounting Clerk REPORTS TO: Health Director LOCATION: The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde P.O. Box 38 Grand Ronde, Oregon 97347 SALARY RANGE: $13,000 to $15,500 salary, annually, full time. RESPONSIBILITIES: To serve as a liaison between the contract health services operation and the account ing department to insure a uniform coordination of service, and provide supplemental services to the health department. DUTIES: -To assist the accounting department by performing bookkeeping tasks in processing CHS payments. -Maintain and update all CHS registration applications. -Assist the CHS eligibles in coordination of alternate resources. -Provide data entry from previous fiscal year logs. -Provide fill-in receptionist activities for the health department, as needed. -Provide back-up for the CHS clerks, as needed. -To assist the CHS clerks in their routine duties, as needed. -Perform routine filing. -Assist patients in their application for alternate re sources. -Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: -A minimum of 1 year experience working in an office preferably in a Social Services setting, where data entry clerical and receptionist skills were performed. -High School Diploma or GED -Motivated to assist patients in applying for alternate resources. -Good communication skills and ability to work well with co-workers. -Word processing skills. -Three references who can address your employment and work skills. -Demonstrated ability to work independently. Fireflghting Positions Employment descriptions for seasonal firefighting positions with the Oregon Department of Forestry, Northwest Oregon Area, are posted at the Tribal Forestry Department. The availability of employment positions will be contingent upon the number of their returning seasonal employees. They will be accepting applications for firefighting positions from January 1, 1991 until the closing date of March 1, 1991. Interviews for available positions will be held the last week in March through the first week in April. Employment will begin approximately June 15, 1991, and will last through September, or mid-October, depending upon the severity of the fire season. Length: 1934inchs What's New With Economic Development Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde to Produce Survey on the Grand Ronde Peoples The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, in conjunc tion with Portland State University's Center for Popula tion Research and Census, is putting together a two part survey to assess the needs and desires of the Tribal population. One questionnaire is designed for collection of socioeconomic, demographic, and health related information concerning 1000 households within the Tribe. The other questionnaire will assess attitudes of 600 randomly selected adult members of the Tribe toward economic development plans in the service area which includes the counties of Yamhill, Polk, Marion, Multnomah, Washington, and Tillamook. The survey will be mailed to each participant. The researchers will follow up with two to three contacts before tallying the final results. The need to complete the survey and return it in a timely manner cannot be overemphasized. This is your chance to speak up and be counted so don't be shy! Seasonal Temporary Workers ' Qualifications: Applicants must be a Tribal Member, 18 years and older in good physical condition. At various times during the year temporary workers are needed for reforestation, precommercial thinning, fire trailing, slash burning and other forestry related jobs. Initially this position is required to assist Economic Development Department in the development of special projects, including but not limited to, research and interviews, preparation of written reports and manuals, development and implementation of business training for groups and individuals, oral and written presenta tions, development of program grant applications, feasibility of new and existing Tribal ventures, cost and efficiency analysis, assist in the development of business plans, provide training and assistance to program clients in computer literacy. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Econom ics preferred with experience in Cost Accounting, and variance analysis relating to small businesses or projects. Walking On: BETTY COMMERFORD Betty Commerford, recently retired Grand Ronde postmaster, died during the month of December. Funeral services were held Friday, December 21, 1990. Burial was in Green Crest Memorial Park, Sheridan. The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde were very fond of Betty and would like to express our sorrow to Betty's family at this time. , :
