Energy Program Looking for
Eligible Native Americans
The Energy Programs at Community Action Agency of
Yamhill Co. and Mid-Willamette Valley Community
Action Agency arc looking for eligible Native American
households for the Low income Weatherization Pro
gram. Weatherization measures that are eligible for installa
tion include general heat waste items such as caulking
and weatherstripping, furnace efficiency modifications,
attic insulation, wall insulation, under-floor insulation,
and storm windows. The sole purpose of this program is
to lower energy usage and therefore help lower your
utility bills. To be eligible for the weatherization assis
tance program your house hold income must meet the
guidelines set forth by the federal government. Those
guidelines are as follows:

The funds used to weatherize your home are provided
by the federal government in grant form. There is no
cost to the homeowner or renter, and at no time is there
a lien or an attachment to your property or possessions.
All materials and labor are free of charge.

Firewood
The Forestry Department needs to update their
firewood list. To do this we need to know if a) your
phone number has changed; b) you are no longer
interested in remaining on our list; c) you are not on our
list and would like to be. Please contact Barbara at 879
5522 to make these changes.
LA. Gear
There will be a sale of LA. Gear products at the
November 4, 1990 General Council meeting.
Profits from this event will be used to fund Tribal
Member Youth Activities.
Equipment will be at prices up to 50 off regular
price. Anybody interested in sales opportunities with
LA. Gear should be present for more information.

Energy Assistance Program
The Low Income Energy Assistance Program helps
people once a year with their heat bills. Their income
must be under 125 of poverty level The program will
begin on November 5, 1990 for senior citizens and
disabled persons who arc getting benefits for their
disability. Those persons who received assistance last
year may be able to complete their applications by mail.
Telephone 623-8429 to have the application sent to you.
On December 3, 1990 we will begin taking applications
for the remainder of the population. Call the Dallas
information and referral office 623-8429 for an appoint
ment after December 2, 1990. If you are unable to come
into the Dallas office, we will be taking applications in
Grand Ronde at a later date.

wildlife office and check out "Dress 'em Out - The
Complete How-to-Guide" by Captain James A. Smith.
Smith's guide details the dressing out process as well as
providing hunting and survival tips and even some
simple recipes for your various catches.
Captain Smith's guide includes step-by-step fully
illustrated instructions on how to completely field dress,
transport, skin or pluck, prepare for trophy mounting,
butcher, store and freeze and prepare for eating the
most hunted species of big game and birds in North
America.
"Dress 'em Out" includes full descriptions, habitat and
hunting tips on deer, elk, black bear, mountain lions,
dove, quail, pheasant, grouse and wild turkeys. Plus, the
guide also includes special items on survival technique,
knives, cooling game, skinning and tanning, care of bird
dogs and water fowling. Many recipes are also included
in the comprehensive guide. If you're looking for
answers Smith's guide is complete and easy to read.
