The meeting will be for the purpose of determining the interest in Grand Ronde for establish ing a' chapter of the Northwest Indian Veterans Associa tion (N.I.VA.) 1. New NAPOLS Executive Director The Native American Program of Oregon Legal Services (NAPOLS) is pleased to announce that Maria Tenorio (Apache-Yaqui) has come on board in the position of NAPOLS Executive Director. Ms. Tenorio brings with her many years of experience working for the rights of Indian people in the State of Oregon. For the past seven years she was the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) Consultant within the State's Children's Services Division, where she was a tireless and effective advocate for the rights of Indian tribes in child custody matters within the jurisdiction of CSD. Ms. Tenorio played a significant role in moving that agency to respect the requirements of ICWA and the rights of Indian tribes and individuals. Overall, Ms. Tenorio has been involved in government and Indian programs for twenty years. Her experience as an administrator, advocate and consultant will be a great asset to NAPOLS. NAPOLS provides legal services to a number of tribes in the state of Oregon, including the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon. NAPOLS previous Executive Director, Craig Dorsay, has moved to the position of Litigation Director, where he will employ his wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of Indian law through the direction and supervision of NAPOLS legal staff. With Ms. Tenorio and Mr. Dorsay in these leadership positions, NAPOLS is sure to be able to provide strong and effective advo cacy for Indian people in the State of Oregon for many years to come.
