Good Turn Out!
On May 31st, 1990, the Educational Program spon
sored a "Parent & Student Night" for new and continu
ing students who will be attending college during the '90
'91 school year. We had approximately 18 students and
parents attend the activity. Both parents and students
were provided an opportunity to meet with representa
tives from Southern Oregon State College ; Portland
State University and Chcmcketa Community College.
Questions were asked regarding financial aid applica
tion, college living, dealing with personal problems for
students and getting help with classes.
Representatives shared helpful hints and insights as to
preparing for school and what students should expect.
Attending from Portland State University were Edward
Alvarez, Maria Alanis and Tina Villalobos, who worked
for the Tribe as telephone receptionist. Francisco
Garcia, represented Chemekcta Community College
and Ms. Joan Jackson attended on behalf of Southern
Oregon State College.
Because of the response from students and parents,
another parent and student gathering will be held in late
August or early September. If you missed the last one,
plan on attending the next one!
