TRIBAL OFFICE ... August 2, 1982 - A request for funding was submitted to Yamhill County Commissioners to be used as seed money for economic development in the Grand Ronde area. A total of $12,500, interest earned on other Yamhill County economic development projects, was made available to orqan izat ions to apply for. The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde was one of the five organizations to received funding in the amount of $2,500. These funds will be used to enhance our Tribal Craft Bead Shop by providing a part time salary for operation of the shop. August 22, - 26, 1982 - Two tribal delegates, Kathryn Harrison and Clarice .Ellison, traveled to Reno, Nevada to attend the National Indian Council on Aging Conference. Kathryn and Clarice are among the delegates from Region - "Ohe which includes the states of Oregon, Washington and Idaho. They are seeking funds to implement a chapter in Oregon to provide services to the Indian elderly in each respective area. Approximately 1,000 people attended the national conference from Alaska and throughout the United States, each representing their elderly. More information will be published as it be comes available. September 10, 1982 - Quarterly financial reports required by ANA (Administra tion for Native Americans) were completed and mailed to Washington D.C. The 12-month ANA continuation proposal was completed by the tribal Planner and submitted to ANA for review. If approved, the continuation grant will begin December, 1982. September 21 , 1982 - Tribal Chairman, Merle Holmes will be traveling to Sumner, Washington to attend the board of Directors meeting at the S.T.O.W.W. (Small Tribes Organization of Western Washington) office. Office staff will also be in Sumner to meet with staff from the Indian Business Development Office to discuss the feasibility study of a future project for The Confed erated Tribes of Grand Ronde. September 27, - October 2, 1 982 - Administrative staff will attend a Program Management Training Curriculum at Seattle, Washington, at the Seattle Center Community College. The workshop will include; Overall Program Management, Budget and Record Keeping, Budget Forecasting, Indirect Costs, Compliance .-with Regulations, Time Management, Personnel and Program Evaluations. COMMISSION ON INDIAN SERVICES REGIONAL MEETING SCHEDULED IN GRAND RONDE . . . One of 5 Western Oregon Regional Meetings has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 5, 1982, at 7:00 - 10:00 p.m., at the Grand Ronde Elementary School. Members on the panel for the meeting include CIS (Commission on Indian Services) Chairman Rudy Clements, Warm Springs; Kathy Green, CIS; Merle Holmes - Tribal Chai rman, Grand Ronde; Representative Paul Hanneman; Senator Dell Isham- a repre sentative of. Congressman Les AuCoin. Both Tribal and community members'are urged to attend the meeting to provide input to the CIS and legislators on what you feel are concerns and needs that should be addressed by the people attending, in each appropriate area.
