' COMMENTS from THB CCMMUSITT ORGANIZER 1 On Tuesday, March 9,1982, Kula Petite, Cheryl Carl and I attended the monthly neat- i at the request of Mike Boundy, Chairman. The Pot-luck started at noon followed by a sncrt business meeting and ending with our presentation. The first meeting for the Oregon Indian Council on Aging was held at the Urban Indi n Center, Portland, Oregon on March 11, 1982. I attended as the delegate for the Confedsr1 a ted Tribes of Grand Ronde with Cheryl Carl as Alternate; others attending were from the Eugene, Pendleton, So. Oregon and local Portland area3. The next meeting is tentively sched-. uled within the coming month with the possibility for Incorporation in June, 1982. Fe&ria Haymoad coordinated the meeting with a representative from the National Indian Coimcil on Aging, Mr. Carlton Palmer, of Albuquerque, N. Mex. Reverand Ned Landis of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Willamina, Oregon requested the slide presentation for Sunday a.m. March lit, 1982 j Indian Concerns Sunday for Luther an Churches. It was shown following their Morning Services. Grand Ronde people attending were: Chairman, Merle Holmes, Marvin Kimsey, Beverly Cooney, Jackie Col ton, Cheryl Carl Si Mr. & Mrs. Bill Soderberg. ' Sunday evening, March 21, 1982' found me showing the slide presentation to the Fir .side Group of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Willamina, Oregon at the j request of Mrs. CistinsS' Jasper. After an in-depth question & answer session, most of ith group promised to support our Restoration efforts. - Mrs. Twila Souers, -Title IV Dir. for Eugene Public Schools, Eugene, Oregon request ed my presence as this month's Resource Person along with the slide presentation, the "evening of March 31, 1982 at the University of Oregon Longhouse. Grand Sonde members attending were Chairman, Merle Holmes, Jobji Mercier'&Karen Harrison. The Pot-luck started at 6:00 p.m.followed by the slide presentation and the evening activities ending with drvjwv ing and singing.
