' '- Picnic Mark-s ,the,End tof h Summer School 1 - Twenty-one students successfully completed the Title IV Indian Education Summer School The students are; Billy Bobb, Steven. Bobb, Shawn Carl, Angle Childers, Debby Childers, Michael Childers, Doug Colton, Mike Colton, Laura Lambert, Robbie Lambert, Gregg Leno, Dartiele Norwest, Johnny Norwest, La Donna Norwest, Lonnie Norwest, Derek Olson, Clayton Sump, Ellie Sump, Lety Tinoco, Dennis Van Dyke and Matt "White. , ; Academic and culturally related subjects were the focal point of the ; six week program. ! Kah-nee-ta, Deer Park, The Marine Science Center, Lincoln County Museum, Portland Art Museum, and the "Whale", (a van run;1 by the Portland Public Schools Title IV Indian Education Program.) were visited by the students. - '.r: A potluck picnic honoring the -students and their -parents;will" be :held, Sunday August- 5th at. 11: 30 AVM. at B.uell Park; , Students : receiving.-outstanding-citizenship.-awards are. Ellie Sump, Lety Tinoco Billy Bobb, and Michael Childers. .; "' '' Television Show to be ' ' Aired i August 3 The Summer School staff and four students , Johnny Norwest j Billy Eobb, Lety Tinoco and Debby Childers traveled to Salem to be guests on "Inter-view" a television program hosted by Linda Poseli. . ;. i The program will be aired August 3rd at 4:30 P.M. on KVDO, Channel 3. ....... "Real Indians" - , Nora Kimsey, Clara Riggs, Harriet Leno, Nick Leno, Marvin Kimsey, Lety Tinoco, Michaelle Lambert and Stella Fischer made a presentation for the children :at Camp Tapawinga in Black Rock. Clara spoke on the days of her childhood, Nick wore a head dress, snd played the drum, Lety,; read an Indian legend and Stella Fischer lead the. children injaRound Dance. . j The children were in a state of awe when upon returning to camp they found that "real -Indians" had made themselves at home; Student of the Month - Delia Fischer Delia Fischer born October 15, 1959 in Port Angeles, Wash ington is the daughter of Leonard and Faye Fischer. The Fischers have lived in the Grand Ronde are'a since 1967. Delia, a Makah Indian graduated from Willamina High School last June. She is now employed as an aide in the Title IV Indian Education Summer School.
