E Coosh EEWA: The way it is Letters to the editor Lincoln’s Powwow in February The Simnasho community and powwow committee in mid-February will host the Forty-Ninth Annual Lincoln’s Powwow, Honoring Our El- ders. Categories are Tiny Tots; Junior Boys and Girls 7-12; Teen Boys and Girls 13-17; Adult Men and Women; and Golden Age Men and Women. Specials will include Men’s 18-and-up All Around, Hon- oring beloved powwow mem- ber Jermayne Tuckta. There will be a Women’s 18-and-up Pathlapa Special by the Slockish Family, hon- oring Suzie ‘Shikashnai’ Slockish. And there will be a Men’s 18-and-up Chicken Dance Special by the Boise Fam- ily, honoring Triston ‘Bisc’ Boise. The Outgoing Queen Spe- cial is Teen Girls Old Style Jingle. Other Specials to be announced. For the Drum Contest, first-place prize is $3,000; second, $2,000; and third, $1,000. Grand entry times will be 7 p.m. Friday, February 13; 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 14; and 1:30 on Sunday, February 15. From Housing The Warm Springs Hous- ing Authority has mailed out the update forms to every- one on their waitlist. The ‘Statement of Contin- ued Interest’ must be filled out and returned no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, January 30. Failure to do so will result in removal from the Housing waitlist. If you haven’t received your update in the mail, con- tact the Housing office as soon as possible. Community notes... There is a Senior lunch at noon this Wednesday, January 21 at the War m Springs Senior Center dining area. Senior meals are free for all elders age 60 and older. Guests can join the seniors for lunch: $1 for Youth, $5 for adults, or you can assist with clean-up after the meal. This Wednesday they are serving baked salmon with mashed cauliflower, roasted roots and veggies, and fresh fruit. Flu, RSV vaccines Seasonal vaccines are available at the War m Springs Indian Health Ser- vices clinic. The flu vaccine is recommended for every- one age 6 months and older. The RSV vaccine is recom- mended for infants, pregnant women and elders. Vaccine clinic hours are daily except on Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 a.m.; not available 1:30-3:30 p.m. Ap- pointments are not necessary.
