Public notice: Regarding Shitike Creek Bridge 16-inch water main - Phase 2 The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Utilities Department will be seeking funding in 2024 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture - Rural Development in the amoung of $848,000. Utilities will hold a public hearing on this project and Rural Development funding opportunity on from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21 at the Agency Longhouse, 1253 Kot-Num Road, Warm Springs. The purpose of the public meeting is to update and notify the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs water users of the progress of the Shitike Creek Bridge Crossing 16 inch water main. Class of 2023 had great graduation rate The statewide graduation rate in Oregon for last year’s graduating class was 81.3 percent, tying the previous class as second highest ever recorded in the state. While the overall rate held steady, some student groups reached all-time highs for gradua- tion, including former English learners and migrant students The statewide overall graduation rate for the American Indian- Alaska Native group remained about steady at just above 68 per- cent. There remains room for im- provement as the rate overall for students of all the groups was at 81 percent. Other key findings from the recent Oregon Department of Education report include: · Students completing two cred- its in an approved Career and Tech- nical Education, or CTE, program of study significantly exceeded the statewide average, graduating at a rate of 95 percent. · Former English learners—stu- dents who have successfully com- pleted English Learner programs prior to entering high school in Or- egon—graduated at 87.6 percent, six percentage points higher than the statewide average and an all- time high for that student group. · Special Education students also saw the highest graduation rate for that student group at 68.6 per- cent. · The graduation rate for stu- dents experiencing houselessness increased 2 percentage points to 60.6 percent which is also a record high for that student group. · For the first time, gradua- tion rates are reported for mili- tary connected students, 86.7 percent; and students with expe- rience in incarceration or deten- tion, 35.8 percent. Flu and covid vaccine clinics with IHS The Warm Springs Community Health programs are hosting covid and flu vaccine clinics. One of the clinics is this Wednesday, February 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the clinic. This is a walk-in clinic in pod A. Invited are tribal employees, and community members who are not eligible for primary care at IHS; or are not members of a federally recognized tribe. The second walk- in clinic will be next Tuesday, Feb- ruary 13 at the clinic, 1270 Kot- Num Road, pod A. Only the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine, and flu vaccines will be available at these times.
