OSU Extension hosting youth camps
What is 4-H? It is first and fore-
most a youth development pro-
gram, helping kids and youth grow
the skills to meet the challenges of
a rapidly changing world.
The program utilizes caring adult
volunteers to assist youth grades 4-
12 in different project areas, usu-
ally in the context of a club. Clubs
are made up of at least five youth,
from three different families, de-
veloping the skills to make the com-
munity and world a better place.
4-H wants to know
What do the parents and youth
of Warm Springs want from their
4-H program?
Is it livestock programs, art,
home economics, science and tech-
nology, leadership camps, hunting
and outdoor skills, or something all-
together new?
To find that out, the Facebook
page (Warm Springs 4-H Oregon)
has been re-activated, and there is
a link to a very simple survey.
Please help us plan what 4-H will
look like in this community by tak-
Join OSU Extension for fun-filled 4-H kids day camps.
The first camp is this Wednesday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to
3 p.m., at the Education Building, with arts and crafts activi-
ties. Lunch and snacks will be provided.
This is open to kids ages 8-15. Call Extension to register,
541-553-3238. The arts and crafts will be entered in the
Jefferson County Fair. If your child has photography, bring
photos and Extension will help get them ready for the fair.
The second camp will be on July 17, from 10 a.m. to 3
p.m. with the activity being, “Fun with Food.”
Please note that children must be picked up by 3:15, as
there is no supervision after that time.
ing the survey. If you are not a
“facebooker,” come by the OSU
Extension office on the first floor
of the Education Building, and fill
out a little paper version. We can
still do that.
As we work on developing pro-
grams, we will offer a couple of
Day Camps this summer to help
kids ages 8-15 prepare items to en-
ter in Open Class at the Jefferson
County Fair the end of July. Our
first camp is set for this Wednes-
day, July 9. Our second camp is July
17, a Thursday, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.,
and will focus on producing canned
and baked goods to submit for Fair
as well. We will provide healthy
snacks and lunch will be at the Sum-
mer Lunch program. Please call the
OSU Extension Office at 541-553-

Are you an adult with an interest
in helping youth grow up to make a
difference? Contact the Extension
Office in Warm Springs to get
signed up to volunteer. If we get a
critical mass of interested adults, we
will arrange a volunteer training in
Warm Springs. Let us know!
