Welch is an award-winning journaEst from Eugene, and has written seven books. H e wiE be at the Warm Springs Library for a presentation on American Nightingale, a highly- praised biography. The book teUs the story o f Frances Slaner, a forgotten heroine o f World War II who w as k illed at N o rm a n d y beach. She was serving as an Army nurse. American Nightingale has received high praise.
