A. dedication ceremony will be announced when the mobile clinic arrives. O ver the past several months, the yëhicle has been customized to the specifica tions identified by the tribes. Cost o f the unit is about $300,000, funded through community healthcare pro grams. The mobile clinic» is a co- operative project o f the Community Health Program, the Joint Health Commis sion, tribal Health and Hu man Services and the Indian Health Service. The facility will allow health workers to visit oudy- ing communities such as Youngsters enjoyed the annual event, Jamboree Day, that transforms the Community Center field 'for a day. As the tem perature inched towards triple dig its, the kids enjoyed the inflated water slide, and were able to quickly dry off so they could climb the rock wall. Satch and Mike helped kids with their bows and arrows at the archery sta tion while Carol, Mykee, and Tatum painted faces and arms too. Depending on the nature of the visit, the mobile clinic will be staffed by a physician or nurse practitioners. There will also be a dental compo nent to the clinic. The idea for a mobile clinic serving the reservation began about three years ago/ At the time, the community was responding to the H1N1 flu outbreak. There was an imminent need to serve el?: ders and others in the outly ing communities, Community health work-, ers began the grant process, and secured the necessary funding. Jefferson County School District 509-J will host a ground-breaking event for the new Madras High School athletic complex and performing arts center. The event is at 10 a.m. this Thursday, August 22.
